The owners of this stunning new build home had a clear idea of how they wanted it to look and working closely with them, Design Innovation developed a lighting and audio visual system to compliment the interior. Recessed lighting and speakers in many rooms, both down and up lighting was used, along with feature LED lighting both static and colour changing.

Controlling all the lighting is a Dynalite control system providing scene setting in all rooms as well as functions such as whole house on/off. This high specification architectural control system is well suited to the mixture of different lighting in the house especially with it's ability to effortlessly incorporate the LED colour changing sequences and static colours. In the family room LED strips have been used to up-light the roof and wash colour down the walls, this is combined with recessed low level LED's and up-lighters in front of the large bi-fold doors. The control system sets the colours depending on the scene and use of the room as well as providing slowly changing colour sequences.

In the family room a 7.1 surround sound system featuring Arcam amplification and Definitive Technology Mythos speakers compliments the Samsung 52" LCD HD TV. However for the real cinematic experience the room also features a recessed motorised screen and full 1080P projector. Both these are fed from an HDMI matrix allowing SKY HD, Blu Ray and digitally stored, up-scaled DVD's and film clips to be played in here or on any other TV in the house in full 1080P high definition.

A second cinema system was installed in a first floor sitting room complete with local PS3 and Xbox, again this features a 52" LCD, Arcam amplification and Mythos speakers. All AV equipment is located in its own dedicated cabinet on the ground floor removing the clutter of amplifiers, etc. in each room. MP3's and DVD's stored on a networked hard drive can be played in all rooms with an easy to use on screen menu for navigation.

Sitting at the heart of the AV system is the Control 4 system which controls every TV and audio visual device in the house. Using the new SR-250 remote control with OLED display, music and DVD's can be selected on the remote, either using the remotes display or by using the on screen menu viewed on the TV. This system provides all the functionality of traditional multi-room systems without the need for wall mounted controls. Full integration with Dynalite means a single button press on the remote can also dim lights as well as turn on the TV.

Full use has been made of the recently added media playback feature of the Control 4 system which uses inexpensive HD media players as it's streaming device. This adds full DVD ripping and playback to the system for a fraction of the cost of other systems on the market and fully integrates the players into the system without the need to use the players own menu.

Offering one of the most advanced central vacuum systems on the market today Design Innovation installed an automatic Drain Vac system, uniquely this system never requires emptying as it adds water to the dust at the machine and then flushes it down the drain. The advantage of this system is that it can also be used in wet rooms and for mopping up wet floors.

Design Innovation carried out the full electrical installation giving the customer one point of contact for all the electrical and technology elements in the house. This is a project that has evolved as the build has progressed and as the clients developed their ideas for the house. Like so many of our projects Design Innovation were an essential part of the design and build team offering advice and design assistance where needed.
